What should I expect from therapy?

Together we create an environment of mutual safety, trust and choice for your discovery. It is your time to address problems and open to new possibilities for your well-being and life direction with my support. The therapeutic relationship is very special and unique. I am here to serve and assist you as you determine and establish what you will have for yourself in your life. I won’t have many answers for you; I will support you finding your own. It is my deep conviction that the blueprint for the healthy, growth-filled development of our lives lies within each of us. In our work together I point you to your inner guiding compass and knowing. It is important that you let me know what your needs are, and if there is ever anything that does not work for you, I would like to know. You can take the trust that we build in our therapeutic relationship into growing alive, mutually supportive relationships in your life. I have a spiritual approach to psychotherapy and feel that we are connected to an “absolute presence” which we may call upon. Therapy can be difficult work at times and no cures can be guaranteed, yet in most cases it yields great fruit.

Is counseling confidential?

Yes! As a licensed psychotherapist I am legally and ethically bound to adhere to strict California confidentiality laws. That I know you, that you are in therapy, and all information you share with me is confidential. Therapy provides a safe container for you to explore thoughts and express feelings about all sorts of things without worry that someone else might hear about it. There are some exceptions to these laws you need to know: If you intend to cause serious harm to yourself or someone else, I am mandated by law to inform the proper authorities in order to prevent this from happening. If there is suspected child abuse or elder abuse, I am required by law to notify proper authorities to prevent this from occurring. One other reason I would need to break confidentiality is if I am court ordered to do so, which usually occurs if you are in a lawsuit and present your mental health as a factor in the lawsuit.

What will this cost me?

My fee is $190 for a 50 minute session.

I do consider a lower fee when there is a financial need. Please let me know your financial concerns and we will go from there. If I am unable to meet your needs, I have referrals and other lower fee options that I can suggest.

I do not take insurance but am able to provide a superbill which you can submit to your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you.

I ask for a 48-hour notice to cancel or reschedule. If you notify with anything less than 24-hours you will be responsible to pay the full rate for the session.

Where are you located?

I am located in Marin County. My office is in Woodacre. I am now open again for in-person sessions. We can also meet over my confidential internet portal or through zoom or over the phone.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Telehealth can be a convenient option to receive counseling services when you are unable to attend in-person sessions. Covid-19 is easing up but if you are concerned about your health, know that online or phone meetings are available.
